Womanless Beauty Contest brings out some of Folly’s Finest ‘Ladies’ to for a good cause

Always one of the most fun Folly events of the year, the seventh annual Womanless Beauty Pageant was held on April 29 at Planet Follywood. People packed inside the bar and stood on the street looking through the window trying to get a peak of some of Folly’s finest all dolled up for the gender-bending charity event.

The crowd was in good spirits and ready to give some money to their favorite “girls.” The event got started with the “mistress of ceremonies” Roger Rutledge taking the microphone in a full-on dress and his trademark long silver ponytail braided into perfect cornrows. The hilarity didn’t stop there, however, as eight contestants got in the spirit of the evening and did their best imitating the fairer sex as the crowd gave tips as the contestants shook their hips.

In the end more than $2,000 was raised for the Folly Angels, which helps Folly Beach residents with cancer. “We want to thank all the contestants, they were great, along with Roger Rutledge and everyone who helped make the night a success. The Folly Angels appreciate the support,” said Planet Follywood co-owner DJ Rich.
