Cupid’s Undie Run returns to Folly, raises money for Neurofibromatosis

from Staff Reports

In 2010, a group of do-gooders, led by co-founders Brendan Hanrahan, Chad Leathers, and Bobby Gill, dropped their pants and ran through our nation’s capital in the cold to raise money for research to help end neurofibromatosis (NF), a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. They ran in their undies because those affected with NF can’t cover up their tumors, so they decided to strip down in solidarity.

Since 2010, Cupid’s Charity was created and became a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to end NF by funding much needed research. They have raised more than $18,900,000 to date, with 100 percent of net proceeds funding research through their partner the Children’s Tumor Foundation, the world’s leader in NF research.

This February, be a part of Folly Beach’s Cupid’s Undie Run, a “brief,” mile-ish fun run that takes place in the middle of a BIG party – all to find a cure for NF, a genetic tumor disorder that affects one in every 3,000 births.

You can start a team of your friends, join a team, or run solo. Just come out, have a blast, and raise some money for NF research and earn some cool fundraising rewards too.

Is this a run, or a party, or both?!
BOTH! Cupid’s Undie Run kicks off with mingling, music, and drinks. Then everyone heads out for a mile-ish run and stretch it out back inside at an epic dance party. It’s all for charity, and it’s all in your undies!

How do I earn cool stuff?
The more you fundraise, the more rewards you’ll earn. Want the Cupid’s commemorative T-shirt? Raise $100. Want to add undies, and the coveted open bar to that? Raise just $250. Check out all the other rewards at www.cupids.org/rewards

What do I get for referring friends?
Have a friend register using your personal referral link and you’ll receive $15 towards earning some awesome Cupid’s swag. At the same time, your friend will receive 25 percent off their registration fee. And there is no limit to how many people you can refer. It’s a win-win-win!

What should I wear?
Well, folks will definitely be their undies! However, if undies aren’t your thing, get creative with it and try out a costume, tutu, or onesie! Have fun with it, but remember, it’s for the kids, so keep it PG-13!

Where does the money go?
Cupid’s Undie Run is a fundraising event with 100 percent of the net proceeds funding neurofibromatosis research through the Children’s Tumor Foundation, a 4-star rated charity, and the world’s leader in neurofibromatosis research.

The Folly Beach Cupid’s Undie Run will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15. The race and party start at noon at Loggerhead’s Beach Grill with a party afterwards. Cost is $40. For more information, visit www.cupids.org
