Surf films come to the shore with Folly Beach Movie Night

from Staff Reports

After being postponed last month, Folly Beach Movie Night is set to roll out the big screen under the stars on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The free community event, presented by McKevlin’s Surf Shop and Tides Folly Beach, will transform the beach in front of the hotel at 1 Center St. into a seaside cinema celebrating local surf culture.

Moviegoers are encouraged to bring beach chairs or blankets and settle in for a lineup of surf films made by local filmmakers. The evening’s program features “Ear to Ear,” a short by Folly-based surfer and artist Kate Barattini, as well as two crowd favorites by The Thomas Brothers — “Waves in Our Pocket” and “Twin Fin Rodeo.” The night will also include the premiere of a new short film from professional surfer Cam Richards, one of Folly’s most accomplished wave riders.

Pinky’s will provide refreshments, adding to the laid-back, community vibe that makes Folly Beach Movie Night a can’t-miss gathering for locals and visitors alike.

Admission is free and open to all ages. As the sun sets and the tide rolls in, Folly’s shoreline will once again serve as the backdrop for stories of salt, sand, and stoke — a perfect reminder that on Folly, the spirit of surfing extends well beyond the waves.
