Nashville singer/songwriter Colleen Lloy plays Folly River Park on April 11

from Staff Reports

Although Colleen Lloy may not yet be a household name in South Carolina, back in Nashville, the award-winning singer/songwriter has been playing for decades in all the regular hot spots. This month she will visit Charleston, where she will perform as part of the City of Folly Beach’s Fall Concert Series on Thursday, April 11 at the Folly River Park.

Over her musical career, the Sacramento native has entered and won many music competitions, one of which was the Jimmy Dean/True Value Hardware Music Competition, where she won first place in Northern California, which ultimately took her to Nashville. She fell in love with Music City and decided to move there and pursue her music career.

Like many artists, she has a story of courage and stamina where she quit her job, sold everything she owned, and moved to Nashville. It didn’t take long for the industry to realize that Lloy has major chemistry and charisma on and off stage. Coined the “chameleon” by many, she proves she has an unusual style of singing able to cover any type of music with ease. She also appeared on the popular ABC television show Nashville.

She’s played all over the United States and abroad, including two USO shows in Italy. She’s a frequent guest at the famed Bluebird Café in Nashville and has done television and radio broadcasts. Lloy has opened up for artists like Billy Dean, Paul Overstreet, John Berry, Lee Greenwood, George Jones, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tanya Tucker, John Anderson, and many others.

Other performances in the City’s Spring 2024 Concert Series this month include Big Band Beach Bash for Seniors on Thursday, April 25, 5-7 p.m. at Father Kelly Hall. Must RSVP to hodonnell@follybeach.gov.
