12th annual Porch Fest brings music, community to Folly

from Staff Reports

Folly Beach will once again come alive with music as Porch Fest returns on Saturday, Nov. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. For over a decade, this beloved local tradition transforms porches, driveways, and yards into makeshift stages, creating an afternoon that’s equal parts neighborhood block party and music festival.

One of the best parts of Porch Fest is its variety. With two dozen acts on five stages scattered across the island, there’s truly something for everyone—whether your taste runs to bluegrass, folk, indie rock, or beachy jams. Thanks to the “Folly Bus,” festivalgoers won’t even have to worry about hoofing it from one end of the island to the other. For $10 all-you-can-ride passes, the shuttle loops all five stages, making it easy to catch your favorite act without missing a beat. Details are available at www.follybus.com.

Beyond the music, Porch Fest is about community. Neighbors gather on sidewalks, kids play in yards, and visitors discover Folly’s special blend of hospitality and creativity. While the event is free, attendees are encouraged to tip the bands—a tradition that helps sustain Folly’s vibrant live music scene. Proceeds from T-shirt sales will benefit local non-profit Waves4Women, which empowers women and youth through surf therapy.

For longtime locals and newcomers alike, Porch Fest is a reminder of why Folly Beach is more than a vacation destination. It’s a community with music at its heart.

Folly Beach Porchfest will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from 12-5 p.m. For a full schedule of artists see the Folly Buzz calendar on page 33. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/follybeachporchfest.
